How Unmake works
01 / Begin anywhere
Give it a thread.
Start with what’s on your mind, even if you can’t quite put your finger on it. Each thread holds one meaningful problem, question, or goal.
Threads keep their context separate. If another conversation becomes relevant, you can review and approve a snapshot before bringing it in.
02 / Think out loud
Talk, or type.
Use the keyboard or intentionally start a voice conversation. You can also choose to have replies spoken aloud.
Speech recognition stays on your device. Unmake doesn’t save audio files or fall back to remote transcription.
03 / Look a little closer
Keep what you learn.
Alongside your conversation, Unmake gathers observations, possible explanations, things to try and their outcomes. Saved context helps you continue without starting over.
A note is an interpretation, not a verdict. Inspect the original messages behind it, or remove an interpretation that misses the point.
04 / On your terms
Try a change. See what helps.
Try a small next step outside the app, then talk through the result. When your history supports a meaningful change, Unmake suggests a milestone. You decide whether to confirm it.
If things change later, revise the milestone. Your journey keeps the original moment and the revision, so the story stays honest.
05 / Yours to keep
Take your words with you.
Export a thread as readable Markdown. Delete a thread when you’re done with it. With Pro, choose private iCloud sync across your compatible devices.
Reading, exporting, and deleting existing threads never depend on an active subscription. Your extra threads remain readable if Pro ends.
Thoughtful about its limits.
Unmake uses Apple’s on-device models. It can make mistakes and doesn’t browse the web. It is a tool for reflection, not professional care or emergency help.
Requires a Mac with Apple silicon, macOS 26 or later, and Apple Intelligence enabled with its model downloaded. Voice availability depends on your language and Mac.
